where the time goes, then I sure don't know this week!
I've been making this and that this week - I had some beads to make for a customer, and why make 4 when you might as well make more?
So I made some large focal beads as part of my 52 in 52 challenge
as well as some black with silvered ivory stringer and fine silver decoration
some mauve with raku frit decoration to match (I hope) something recently sold
and the same with these green beads
although those below might be a better match?
It's always hard when you sell a bead you made some time ago and have no idea what glass and frit you used! Making repeatable beads isn't often on my agenda.
The beads above started out as a pretty soft green, but the colour has changed when I added the silvered ivory - I made several batches, all the same so am sure it is the glass effect not me (or I can consistently replicate something going wrong?)
Likewise the beads below were a copper rich green glass but went a lovely but unwanted glossy grey colour so I etched to give the sand washed appearance and a prettier colour - just not the copper rich green?
And the glass below should strike to pretty colours - not for me it doesn't? But I also have opaque and opaline rods in the same batch - so perhaps they behave differently?
Still the lovely green beads came true to colour - I love this colour, called Cardamom
And it's not been glass, glass, glass all week - Saturday husband and I had our Christmas presents - we both went on a cheese making course. He loves cheese, I like anything new and, since he's not particularly practical but can cook, this was something I was pretty sure he'd be OK at.
Run by the lovely Sarah and Chris from the Shebbear Cheese Company and held at Clavelshay Barn Restaurant we made two cheeses, a Cambozola and a blue cheese - now doing their thing in our fridge and ready to be eaten in 4 to 8 weeks.There's another blue cheese course in April if you fancy having a go - I promise you will have fun and a great lunch!
