About Me

My photo
North Somerset, United Kingdom
My parents were worried when I ran around with scissors – now I play with fire and (intentionally) break glass! Based in the beautiful South West of England, close to the sea and often the scene of beautiful sunsets, I am inspired by the countryside around. Working with sea glass collected from remote beaches, soda lime glass from Murano, Italy, Europe, USA and beyond, I create artisan beads, for use in my own jewellery or for you to enjoy in your own creations. But I couldn’t stop there; continuing the theme from round rods to flat sheets, mostly from the USA, I break large sheets of transparent, opaque, multi-coloured and dichroic glass into much smaller pieces to make a kiln-formed range of bright, colourful jewellery and home decoration. Each piece I make is individually designed around the shape, size and beauty of the materials and intended to be unique, wearable, usable and affordable. All my glass work is kiln annealed for strength and durability and designed to give pleasure for years to come.

Titus - the trials and tribulations of a material girl

I’ve married a man named Titus
Titus Anatschuff ‘s his name
He hails from up there in Scotland
And frankly his name does explain

Titus is canny with money
He saves it rather than spend
I’m rather keener on spending
But my spending just seems to offend

I want some curtains and carpets
Titus wants interest on dosh
I wanted a machine for the washing
I wanted a Miele or a Bosch
[other makes are available!]

Titus said I’d have Tesco value
And be glad I’d got one at all
I said OK, make it Siemens
And gave the suppliers a call

He spotted my ruse and stopped it
Dead in its tracks, no machine –
So I stopped doing his washing
And said ‘get your own clothes clean’!

I’ve withdrawn all my labour and favours
No dinner, no nothing, no fun
I’m downing my tools for the future
‘til this partic’lar battle is won.

Poor Titus doesn’t know what has hit him
His missus’s gone strange in the head
She’s normally so mild and convivial
And he’s so normally well fed

All for the sake of some money
Material goods for his lass
He treats her to time in John Lewis
And the ‘moment’ seems to then pass

Now I’ve machines to wash dishes
And clothes and whisk up a meal,
Titus has gone into therapy
And signed up for t’ Government’s New Deal

So the answer dear ladies is simple
If ‘Titus’ you have in your life
Don’t let him be penny pinching
Remind him the boss is his wife!

New work in my Etsy and Folksy shops

It's been a while since I've had time to sit and update my blog!
The lurgy from mid November still lingers :(

Now that my last fair is done and dusted, I have time to list a few new makes in my Folksy and Etsy shops

A few new necklaces have been listed, and more will be listed as time
(and sunshine for photography) allows over the next few days

And I have some lovely new devore silk velvet scarves on offer,
again a few are listed

and more will follow as soon as ........

All my items are ready to post on the next working day
(including Saturday mornings when the Post Office is open)

and I will keep posting each day until and after Christmas - if you order I will post, (although I am obviously not responsible for delays caused by the postman being overworked at this time of year).

Hope you see something you like, and keep checking back or on
my Facebook page, for more updates.
