About Me

My photo
North Somerset, United Kingdom
My parents were worried when I ran around with scissors – now I play with fire and (intentionally) break glass! Based in the beautiful South West of England, close to the sea and often the scene of beautiful sunsets, I am inspired by the countryside around. Working with sea glass collected from remote beaches, soda lime glass from Murano, Italy, Europe, USA and beyond, I create artisan beads, for use in my own jewellery or for you to enjoy in your own creations. But I couldn’t stop there; continuing the theme from round rods to flat sheets, mostly from the USA, I break large sheets of transparent, opaque, multi-coloured and dichroic glass into much smaller pieces to make a kiln-formed range of bright, colourful jewellery and home decoration. Each piece I make is individually designed around the shape, size and beauty of the materials and intended to be unique, wearable, usable and affordable. All my glass work is kiln annealed for strength and durability and designed to give pleasure for years to come.

Shibori silk scarf dye kits on Ebay

I've just listed some of my shibori dyeing kits, to make a silk scarf in either your microwave (honest, it works!) or your steamer, on Ebay

The kits have the dyes, silk scarf, instructions and other bits and bobs that you need to be able to make an original silk scarf, which you can then wear with pride.  They are suitable for beginners and make fabulous gifts for your friends (or yourself).

I'm offering 3 different colour ranges on Ebay:

Aegean Sea is blue, green and purple

Woodland Walks is green, tan and brown

Rosy Glow is red, purple and blue

The fun of this process is that you can use as much or as little of each colour as you like, and your end reesult will be different to mine.  There's enough dye to make several scarves so you have plenty to experiment with.  Why now try one out?

And now for something completely different

Time for a bit of a clear out.
I have a box of things I keep meaning to list on EBay, and now I have!

First up some vintage sterling silver (925) and enamel buttons
these were going to be cuff links when I was in a former life,
now I'm married to a man who doesn't wear cuff links :(

some gorgeous genuine opal cabochons from Australia
these were going to be earrings ........
but I've never got a Round Tuit,
and the moment has now passed

wonderful and rare pieces of genuine coloured English sea glass from the North East.
I picked these off a beach where the local glass works closed circa 1923
so these are pretty old

and then, of course, if you follow the link above ...
I've already listed

some stunning big holed charm beads for your
[can't mention trade names or the world will end] bracelets

lots of focal beads just crying out to be pendants for necklaces

some ribbed round and bicone beads
lots of spotty beads, really pretty for bracelets.

That's all for today - need to work out why my not-very-old-kiln isn't working,
no kiln = no beads :(
