About Me

My photo
North Somerset, United Kingdom
My parents were worried when I ran around with scissors – now I play with fire and (intentionally) break glass! Based in the beautiful South West of England, close to the sea and often the scene of beautiful sunsets, I am inspired by the countryside around. Working with sea glass collected from remote beaches, soda lime glass from Murano, Italy, Europe, USA and beyond, I create artisan beads, for use in my own jewellery or for you to enjoy in your own creations. But I couldn’t stop there; continuing the theme from round rods to flat sheets, mostly from the USA, I break large sheets of transparent, opaque, multi-coloured and dichroic glass into much smaller pieces to make a kiln-formed range of bright, colourful jewellery and home decoration. Each piece I make is individually designed around the shape, size and beauty of the materials and intended to be unique, wearable, usable and affordable. All my glass work is kiln annealed for strength and durability and designed to give pleasure for years to come.

Beautiful sea glass necklaces

Mothers' Day is 18 March!

I'm been busy listing some beautiful rare 'end of day' multi-coloured sea glass necklaces in my Etsy, Artfire, Folksy and Groovycart shops - keep coming back as more items are added over the next few days

These little treasured pieces of English sea glass are nearly 100 years old -
I am told the last glass works in the area closed in 1923

End of day sea glass is rare and usually only found in one part of England

it is glass that, at the end of the day, the workers have used up to make something for themselves, in their own time

usually multi-coloured, sometimes the colour runs all the way through, sometimes only part -

it all depends what the maker was orignally making with the left overs, and which bit of that item you have

What can you do with my sea glass beads?

Just to give you some ideas what you can do with my handmade beads from genuine English sea glass - these are all my own designs and are suggestions and are NOT for direct copying; I'm sure you'll soon have your own ideas and make things with more originality and flair :)

A couple of pieces can simply be made into a pendant - here decorated with Swarovski crystals and mounted on sterling silver - let the beauty of the glass speak for itself

or strung together to make a necklace

I like to use sea glass with my own handmade lamp work glass beads,
I think they go well together

and they work well in both bracelets and necklaces

as well as in earrings

but if you like simple not fancy, sea glass makes perfect earrings too.

top or centre drilled, I have sea glass beads for sale on Ebay this week, as well as some in my Etsy and Artfire shops.

If you are looking for something specific, I am happy to drill sea glass
to commission
and post worldwide. Contact me via my website.

Focal beads, sea glass beads, sea glass snowballs

I've had a busy few days listing things on EBay - I now have a 'repair the studio roof' fund to be funded having found the roof leaks! Although people tell me it is not a difficult job, it is not something we can do for a variety of reasons so, handyman or roofer, I need a man who can.

I have lots more gorgeous tiny pieces of genuine English sea glass from Cornwall, as I sort through the collected sea glass I always find pieces that are a bit small for my use, but lots of people collect these and keep in a pot, to enjoy, touch, wonder; they are very tactile

For those who like something a bit bigger to play with, equally tactile I have sea glass eggs, nuggets, snowballs, dumps, call them what you will. It is unusual to find pieces of sea glass this large, I have one beach in mind that usually has some, but these will be the last of these until probably the autumn when I go on holiday near the right beach - and only then if there are any left. Tides change, 'stocks' dwindle, all sea glass is getting harder to find.

I have 2 packs of Aanraku earring bails for sale, at a quick glance yesterday, they were the cheapest full packs on EBay which just goes to prove EBay isn't always the cheapest place - I'm selling for what I paid, I just bought the wrong thing - I should read labels more closely, I wanted pendant bails!

There are a wild assortment of other things up for grabs, my lovely vintage scales, some batik wax, lots of big hole beads for your charm bracelets, beads for jewellery but, piece de resistance, some of my lovely focal beads - there's one at the top of this blog, really pretty, and here's another
