About Me

My photo
North Somerset, United Kingdom
My parents were worried when I ran around with scissors – now I play with fire and (intentionally) break glass! Based in the beautiful South West of England, close to the sea and often the scene of beautiful sunsets, I am inspired by the countryside around. Working with sea glass collected from remote beaches, soda lime glass from Murano, Italy, Europe, USA and beyond, I create artisan beads, for use in my own jewellery or for you to enjoy in your own creations. But I couldn’t stop there; continuing the theme from round rods to flat sheets, mostly from the USA, I break large sheets of transparent, opaque, multi-coloured and dichroic glass into much smaller pieces to make a kiln-formed range of bright, colourful jewellery and home decoration. Each piece I make is individually designed around the shape, size and beauty of the materials and intended to be unique, wearable, usable and affordable. All my glass work is kiln annealed for strength and durability and designed to give pleasure for years to come.

It's Christmas! We're on the road again ....

Can we mention the C word yet? Christmas - it's less than 52 days until Christmas! Not long - time to get your thinking caps on and head off to the overcrowded and over priced shops with your shopping list.

Or not. Why not go 'handmade' this year. Give something that someone has put some thought into, that you've put some thought into buying, that supports British artisans and business.

At Blue Box Studio we (that's the Royal We, husband is in charge of logistics - or lugging boxes into and out of venues) will be selling our wares somewhere over every weekend until 17th December - from Salisbury to Newton Abbot, our home port of Clevedon to Ross on Wye.

Details of our road trips can be found here.

This weekend we are at the Somerset Hall in Portishead on Saturday and The Chase Hotel in Ross on Wye on Sunday. Do come and see us else the only enjoyment in our day will be the drive up the Wye Valley - it has to be the prettiest route we take to a craft fair.

We will have an exciting range of sea glass and silver jewellery, handmade lampwork beads for your charm bracelets, glass bead jewellery, beads for makers and collectors, silk scarves that are colourful and light to post, gorgous velvet scarves to keep out the chills, cufflinks for the men (and women), bottlestoppers in sea glass and handmade beads (for those who don't always empty the bottle), and the ultimate gift for people who like to have a go at making something, a kit to make a shibori dyed silk scarf - the present that goes on giving, make and enjoy wearing. That's got to be better than a box of chocs from the petrol station - and far healthier too!
