About Me

My photo
North Somerset, United Kingdom
My parents were worried when I ran around with scissors – now I play with fire and (intentionally) break glass! Based in the beautiful South West of England, close to the sea and often the scene of beautiful sunsets, I am inspired by the countryside around. Working with sea glass collected from remote beaches, soda lime glass from Murano, Italy, Europe, USA and beyond, I create artisan beads, for use in my own jewellery or for you to enjoy in your own creations. But I couldn’t stop there; continuing the theme from round rods to flat sheets, mostly from the USA, I break large sheets of transparent, opaque, multi-coloured and dichroic glass into much smaller pieces to make a kiln-formed range of bright, colourful jewellery and home decoration. Each piece I make is individually designed around the shape, size and beauty of the materials and intended to be unique, wearable, usable and affordable. All my glass work is kiln annealed for strength and durability and designed to give pleasure for years to come.

Cynical marriage

I don't know why these poems came to mind but they were in a book of poems given to me when I was newly separated. They make me smile. Having been here, I recommend dealing with those things that are of immediate need. Then worry about the bigger issues.

Loss

The day he moved out was terrible -
That evening she went through hell.
His absence wasn’t a problem
But
the corkscrew had gone as well.

- Wendy Cope

And for the cynical ~

Unfortunate Coincidence

By the time you swear you're his,

Shivering and sighing,
And he vows his passion is
Infinite, undying ---
Lady, make a note of this:
One of you is lying.
- Dorothy Parker

(you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince)

Whilst you ponder your future ...

Office Friendships
Eve is madly in love with Hugh

And Hugh is keen on Jim.
Charles is in love with very few
And few are in love with him.

Myra sits typing notes of love
With romantic pianist's fingers.
Dick turns his eyes to the heavens above
Where Fran's divine perfume lingers.

Nicky is rolling eyes and tits
And flaunting her wiggly walk
Everybody is thrilled to bits
By Clive's suggestive talk.

Sex suppressed will go berserk,
But it keeps us all alive.
It's a wonderful change from wives and work.
And it ends at half past five.

- Gavin Ewart
When love finds you again .....

The keyboard and the mouse

I am myself and in my house
But if I had my way
I'd be the keyboard and the mouse
Under your hands all day.

I'd be the C prompt on the screen.
We could have had some fun
This morning, if I'd only been
Word Perfect 5.1.

I'd be your hard and floppy discs,
I'd be your laser jet,
Your ampersands and asterisks -
I'd be in Somerset

Rotating on your swivel chair.
The journey takes a while
But press return and I'll be there.
Do not delete this file.

In case needed ...

Two cures for love

1. Don't see him. Don't phone or write a letter.

2. The easy way: get to know him better

- Wendy Cope

For when at last your world is again complete ...

(this was a reading at our wedding)

Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be a shelter to the other.

Now you feel no cold,
for each of you will be the warmth to the other.

Now there is no loneliness for you;
now there is no more loneliness.

Now you are two bodies,
but there is only one life before you.

Go now to your dwelling place,
to enter into your days together.

And may your days be good
and long on the earth.

But remember ...

Here lies the man RICHARD,

and MARY his wife;

Their surname was PRITCHARD,

they lived without strife.

And the reason was plain:

they abounded in riches,

They had no care or pain,

and the wife wore the breeches.

In case you worry for my soul, I bought a cork screw, kissed the frogs, got to know him better, and married him! 6 years on he still puts up with me, so long as he can watch the football on a Saturday evening.
