About Me

My photo
North Somerset, United Kingdom
My parents were worried when I ran around with scissors – now I play with fire and (intentionally) break glass! Based in the beautiful South West of England, close to the sea and often the scene of beautiful sunsets, I am inspired by the countryside around. Working with sea glass collected from remote beaches, soda lime glass from Murano, Italy, Europe, USA and beyond, I create artisan beads, for use in my own jewellery or for you to enjoy in your own creations. But I couldn’t stop there; continuing the theme from round rods to flat sheets, mostly from the USA, I break large sheets of transparent, opaque, multi-coloured and dichroic glass into much smaller pieces to make a kiln-formed range of bright, colourful jewellery and home decoration. Each piece I make is individually designed around the shape, size and beauty of the materials and intended to be unique, wearable, usable and affordable. All my glass work is kiln annealed for strength and durability and designed to give pleasure for years to come.

Bargains galore!

Blue Box Studio is 'what it says on the tin' - blue, box shaped and my studio. Not very original, but appropriate. Sadly is is not a tardis and there is only so much that can be crammed inside. The time has come for a clear out. I have some lovely fabrics, braids, kits that now need new homes. These are listed on my various selling sites.

If you are looking for a bargain, read on! There will be more things listed over the coming days and weeks, as I rediscover more things I'd forgotten I'd ever bought so do keep coming back to see what else is on offer - I'll mention them in my blog as and when it happens.

Click on the pictures to be taken directly to the listing in my shops.

For starters we have ~~

Stretch velvet fabric remnant, in brown, tan, gold, black, cream 152cms x 112cms for sale on Folksy for £5.00. This is really pretty and would make a wonderful jacket or scarves, as well any number of other items.

Black devore (burnt out) stretch velvet remnant fabric piece, 160cms wide x 1 generous metre, for sale on Folksy for £5.00. I think this would make a wonderful dress. Just the thing for 'that little black number'.

19.5 metres of Olive green woven textured braid ribbon available from my Folksy shop for 75p per metre. Buy 1 metre, or buy the lot (there are 2 lengths in total) I don't mind. This is really unusual, I've had it for ages, can't remember buying it so may be a piece I inherited from my Mother's collection, in which case it could be quite old. It is however in perfect condition and would make a great embellishment.

If you paint fabrics, or would like to try it without spending too much money, then the next offer is for you!

2 new and unused bottles of DEKA perm 'Deck' - the ultra opaque fabric paint - listed in my Etsy store for just the 20c listing fee and postage - this is a PIF listing. PIF means 'pay it forward'. Do someone else a favour in the future, either with a similar listing on one of your sites, or just a random act of kindness to someone. You don't have to prove to me that you did it; no strings, no catches. By paying me the listing fee and postage, I'm not out of pocket (other than the cost of the dye) and you get a bargain. These were an impulse buy from Fibrecrafts a while back but I don't really use fabric paint, so they need another good home.

2 large sheets of Art paper for papercrafts and scrapbooking - again, listed in my Etsy shop as a PIF in return for the 20c listing fee and postage. Again, these were an impulse buy from Fibrecrafts. I'd thought I could use them as a background for photographs but the colours don't work for the things I make.

Perhaps you've wanted to try out working with natural dyes? Well, here's your chance! More impulse buying - again from Fibrecrafts, [best I stick to mail order in future, I spend less if I'm not browsing] ~~

Natural Dye Kit by Fibrecrafts - there are 5 dye materials and 5 mordants which gives you a possible combination of 25 colours. These are available from Fibrecrafts for just over £17. Mine is available from Ebay for a starting price of £5. There are 6 days left to grab this bargain, but in case it is still available after this, get in touch and I'll let you know. This is a new and unused kit. I opened the box to see what was inside but that's all.

Last, not least and usually available in my shops, we have sea glass, suitable for various jewellery and craft uses. Each listing will tell you what's included, how much, what colours etc.

I use sea glass, that's glass I find on beaches, to make jewellery. I always collect more than I can use so offer my excess for sale to others. This allows me to buy colours I cannot find in the UK from other sea glass collectors.

Some people use it for making things, jewellery, mosaic for example. Some just put it in a bowl and enjoy it, others use in aquariums, put round their plants as a mulch, the list is endless. Some of the glass I offer is ready drilled for your projects. Some pieces are really large, intended for painting and then wearing as a pendant, or hanging from a window.

All of it is genuine sea glass and, except for a wash in hot soapy water, as found on the beach. I don't shape it, colour it, tumble it, make it myself, or do anything else to it. This is as Mother Nature made it.

These pictures will link to examples in my shops, but if you are looking for something specific, let me know and I'll see how I can help. The items I have for sale will vary from shop to shop and from week to week so do check all of them - see links to the right.
